Marching Band

The Duluth Wildcat Marching Band consists of Winds, Percussion, and Color Guard. The band performs at all Duluth Wildcat football games, various parades, and local competitions throughout the fall. Registration for marching band occurs during the spring of the previous school year. The Winds and Percussion sections are open to all current and rising band students. Color Guard is available to all current and rising students through an open audition process.

Lafayette marching classic (October 29, 2022)

I am happy to report, again, phenomenal results from your Wildcat Marching Band from this past weekend. The band received superior ratings in all captions and a top three ranking in every caption! This is a huge feat for our students, considering the scope of competition and quality of other programs we were up against!

Duluth's performance on Saturday was our first time competing in a Prelims / Finals style competition. This means that if the band were to score in the top 8 places, we would have the opportunity to perform again on the same day. The Wildcats narrowly missed out with a 10th place finish overall out of 20 schools!

Highlights from the LaFayette Marching Classic

  • Drum Majors - 1st in Class AAA; 3rd place overall
  • Colorguard - 2nd in Class AAA; 6th place overall
  • Percussion - 1st place in Class AAA; 6th place overall
  • Band - 3rd place in Class AAA; 10th place overall

We are so incredibly proud of these students for their passion and perseverance throughout their competitive season. There are truly no students like Wildcat students!

SUPER bowl of SOUND (October 1, 2022)

As a reminder of how scoring works:

  • Each band and its component sections are judged and scored out of 100. Scores of 85 or higher are "superior."
  • We compete against bands in our class, which consists of similar-sized programs based on the amount of winds / percussion. For this competition we were in Class AA, which had 7 bands total.
  • Classes are combined to create Divisions. At this competition, Classes A and AA were combined to create Silver Division, for a total of 12 bands.
  • Overall, there were 20 bands present at The Super Bowl of Sound.

Colorguard - Superior rating

  • 1st place in Class AA
  • 1st place in Silver Division
  • 4th place overall

Percussion - Superior

  • 2nd place in Class AA
  • 3rd place in Silver Division

Drum Majors - Superior

Band Overall - Superior

  • 1st place in Class AA
  • 1st place in Silver Division (Silver Division Champions!!)

What an incredible way to represent the Duluth community!! Our students are truly something special. Our staff and instructors are so excited to get back to work with them soon!!
