Concert Bands

Mastery Band

The Mastery Band class consists of the top-level musicians at Duluth High School. Entry is by audition only, and all students are encouraged to take private lessons on their instruments outside of class. In addition, band members are expected to audition for honor ensembles, such as All-District Honor Band and Gwinnett County Youth Wind Ensemble.  Students in this ensemble enjoy practicing, and do it daily.

Advanced Bands 1 & 2

The Advanced Band classes are made up of advanced level musicians. Students in this will work on the development of musical skills that prepare them for the Mastery Band class. Students in this ensemble are selected based on class participation, work ethic, and attitude in addition to their ability.  Students in the class are interested in more challenging music, and like to practice weekly. 

Intermediate Band

The Intermediate Band class is made up of on-level music students.  Students in this class work on fundamental skills on their instrument that allows them to express themselves musically.  Students in the ensemble are held to the same standard as all classes in terms of performance quality.
